On your Doorstep
The Bothan is located in the township of Staffin on Trotternish Peninsula where we are fortunate to have countless interesting sites to visit.
For those who love the great outdoors we are ideally situated to access the world famous Quiraing mountains, The Old man of Storr, the Fairy Glen and a vast rugged coastline with everything from sea cliffs , waterfalls and the idyllic Staffin Bay.
Staffin is steeped in history, going all the way back to the Jurassic period and there are several sites close by to view footprints left by dinosaurs on our shores. In more recent history we have traditional black houses nearby which demonstrate the traditional way of living on the island and also the final resting place of Flora MacDonald, immortalized for her participation in the rescue of Bonnie Prince Charlie during the Jacobite Rebellion.
The local Museum is a great place to learn about the township and its history.
For longer trips around the Isle of Skye, the Bothan is located only 20 minutes from Portree and from there you are able to access the whole island and visit numerous world famous sites.
